#1 CREATE FAMILY TIES! unity checklist. Youth can read Mosiah 18:8-9 then discuss the advantages of serving your family. Write on checklist things to do to create this unity. This would help with a marriage or family life before marriage. Know from the scripture that we are “willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light.” Also, Mourn, comfort, and stand as a witness of God.

#2 SOAR HIGH! Communication Balloon Bouquet. Youth can learn these eight ways to communicate with family and friends by discussing and roleplaying each. Watch as the relationships improve with each balloon strategy, e.g., “Be a good listener” can open the door to communication. Perhaps each youth could take one and present it to the group.

#3 TEMPLE MARRIAGE & CIVIL MARRIAGE Quiz puzzle. A temple marriage seals a couple for eternity, a civil marriage does not. As youth put puzzles together they can learn the reasons why couples marry this way. For example, in a temple marriage: “Each partner can know the other partner values the gospel.” In a civil marriage: “Some aren’t sure enough of their love that they want to be married for eternity.”

#4 EVERLASTING COVENANT OF MARRIAGE challenge tent-card. Youth can read D&C 13:1-4 to of God’s plan for us to have an eternal marriage to have children in the world to come. This card is designed for young women as they can write on the card how they will support the priesthood holder (whom they will someday marry). It can be customized for young men (upon request).
